This is an art quilt that I made for my niece as a Christmas present.  This labor of love is the second quilt I had ever made.  Being a family of animal lovers, it tells the story of Alex’s love for her cats and the other fur kids in our family that are part of her life. 

There are several significant blocks on this quilt.  The sunshine with her name has the quote “You will always be the sunshine in my life” because she is definitely that and so much more to me.

The kitty with wings is BJ, her first cat that is now in heaven.   The green kitty with a halo is for Max her second cat that is also in heaven, he has the quote “Max watching over”.  The Gretta block is for a miniature Schnauzer of mine that is also at the Rainbow Bridge. The dog block contains all the dogs in our family, Remy & Spencer (my two Wire Fox Terriers) and Spur & Lucy (my sister’s two Australian Shepherds). 

Like most things I create, this quilt holds a story and memories for the person I designed it for.
